Peninsula Rotarians took part in a morning ritual at the school--shaking hands with students as they come in from busses. Looking someone in the eye, saying A visit to An Achievable Dream Apr 19, 2017 On April 19th, as school was getting starting, several Rotarians of the Peninsula Rotary Club visited An Achievable Dream Academy on 16th Street in Newport News. An Achievable Dream is a unique, nationally-recognized organization with the goal of taking "at risk" students and giving them not only an education, but also a set of values and a set of social skills to put them on a path toward becoming successful and productive members of society.
Here is a collection of Peninsula Club Rotarians, dressed in their finery for the Tennis Ball. They are Jeff Stodghill, Adam Duncan, Danny Carroll, Debra Flores, Pat Resto, Paul Szabo, Ray Spencer, Elizabeth McCoury, Steve Adams, John Frantz, and Kevin Yeargin. An Achievable Dream Tennis Ball, 2015 Nov 21, 2015 On November 21, 2015, a beautiful Saturday evening, the Tennis Ball for An Achievable Dream was held. This is the premier event in the Peninsula Rotary Club's year.
Members of the Virginia Peninsula Rotary Club visited the Heredia Rotary Club in Costa Rica May 6th and 7th. Costa Rica Trip, 2015 May 6, 2015 In Early May of 2015, three members of the Virginia Peninsula Rotary Club visited with the Heredia Rotary Club in Costa Rica. Their mission was to get to know them (a new "partner" club to us), and to see what projects they had identified as possible joint projects. Going on the trip were Ray Spencer, Danny Carroll, Kevin Yeargin, and Nhu Quach (Nhu is Kevin's wife).
Ray meets the director (principal) of El Llano School, where a water treatment station was installed as part of our last project. Costa Rica 2013 Mar 11, 2013 In early March of 2013 three Peninsula Rotarians, two representatives of our Interact Club at Peninsula Catholic High School, and one Rotarian daughter went to Costa Rica to meet with our partners, the Escazu Rotary Club, to see our newly-completed water treatment project and to help plan our next international project. They enjoyed themselves a bit, as well.
The school held many fund-raising events to get enough money to buy the fabric from which the dancers' costumes were made. Carmen Lyra Ceremonies Aug 10, 2009 On their trip to Costa Rica in early August of 2009, a delegation of ten from the Peninsula Rotary Club attended a dedication ceremony for the Carmen Lyra project, a joint project of the Peninsula Club and the Escazu Club of Costa Rica.
And, of course, most of us can't resist the famous Spare time in Costa Rica Aug 10, 2009 On our trips to Costa Rica, we do not avoid enjoying what the country has to offer.
